Congrats to the MIND Institute's Rebecca Schmidt and her co-PI Miriam Nuño, for their researchers awarded $1.35 million EPA grant to study the impact of wildfire smoke on pregnancy and kids, with a focus on vulnerable communities.

Maya Deshmukh was accepted to the ISTAART Ambassador Program Award through the Alzheimer's Association to started on April 20th, and will attend the AAIC conference on July 31, 2022.

The team received the Seed Grant Award with the project "Mathematical Models for Dengue Surveillance: Challenges and Opportunities".

Junuary 2022

Joan Ashby received a scholarship from the REC Fellows Program to conduct research on Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

The ADVANCE Award Symposium celebrates the contributions made by three ADVANCE awardees, and presents an opportunity for the UC Davis community to join together around the awardees’ research and commitment to mentoring, social impact, and public outreach. Dr. Nuño, invited speaker and 2022 ADVANCE Award, presented the talk: THE MATH OF SOCIAL CHANGE: TRANSFORMING HEALTH EQUITY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE.

Workshop on climate change, human behavior, and vector-borne diseases

The goal of this workshop is to create a cross-disciplinary platform to foster exchange and synergy among professionals in the fields of mathematics, statistics, public health, epidemiology, and entomology. We also welcome specific disease experts. This workshop will provide an opportunity to build collaborations that focus on climate change, human behavior, and their impact on vector-borne diseases.
